Early Evening

For those wanting an early evening treat before heading off to do their own thing, we have a decadent 3 course menu for £45. This starts with gin-cured English mackerel (or pastrami-cured beetroot) followed by a Sussex venison bourguignon (or pumpkin and chestnut bourguignon) with pan haggerty and finishing with a French twist on a trifle – or a TrEiffel! – made with pears, crushed macaroons, sherry-soaked sponge and chantilly cream. Sittings available at 5pm, 5.15pm, 5.30pm, 5.45pm or 6pm with a two-and-a-half-hour seating time. Book here.

The Full Party

Farmyard hasn’t had a full New Year’s Knees Up since the NYE just before Covid… so we’ve decided to really go for it this year complete with a tasting menu, welcome drinks, shots of eau de vie (!) and party vibes until late. Our England vs. France Dinner Party will start at 8.30pm, with a welcome glass of French Pet Nat and some delicious amuse bouches as you arrive, giving you time to mix and mingle before settling down in your own groups for a decadent six course English vs. French menu.

Our head chef Nick Leonard has put together delicious dishes based on both English and French traditions and flavours, plus the best local Sussex produce to create a Channel-hopping tour de force of delicious dining. Six courses span from steak tartare to fresh Hastings fish, wild Sussex venison, a take on trifle (TrEiffel) and French cheese par excellence before culminating with some groundbreaking English Eau de Vie and tempting petits fours as we all welcome in deux mille vingt-quatre together.

Of course, the wine will be flowing, with the option of a half French and half English premium wine pairing flight including Sussex Pinot Noir, trail-blazing English orange wine, classic Chablis and Saumur-Champigny from Loire as well as Noble Rot sauternes with pudding.

You’ll be seated at your own table with your booking (as per Farmyard normally) but there’ll be mingling and drinking pre and post dinner, with our close and cosy tables encouraging a decadent supperclub vibe for communal good cheer throughout – and we’ll be open til late so you can stay and welcome in the new year with more drinks and a good-time French meets English playlist.
